PHILIPPINES

Flights have been arranged and preparations are underway for a return to our home in Samar in the Philppines. Although it's only a short flight away from Guam, it seems like leaving the island is becoming more of a challenge each time we leave.

Maybe I'm slowing down, but I can still pack a small suitcase for a one-month visit in no time flat. It's all the advance preparation with the technolgy stuff that seems to be more time consuming, especially for me. Teri, she's been packing for several weeks and I haven't started, and we are only 3 days away from our departure. What bogs me down the most is switching computer gears. As a video content creator, I need to make sure all my video files are up to date and loaded on to the laptop, which becomes my travel companion and my 'workhorse' on the new homefront.

Because I've become accustomed to doing everything on my desktop system at home in Guam, when it comes time to travel, I must make sure I have brung the mostly dormant laptop up to speed... with files, software upgrades, subscriptions, and all that. I don't want to be missing any steps while I'm at home in Samar. I simply cannot leave anything behind if I want to continue to produce videos without missing any beats while I'm away.

This has been one of our longest stints away from the Samar homestead in recent years (8 months), and I feel there is a lot of catching up to do. So I want to be as prepared as possible. Really, it's probably just the anal retentiveness in me but nonetheless, I'm feeling the pressure. But I know in reality, if the laptop is fully loaded and up to date, it's nothing a few San Miguels can't figure out once we are settled-in on our vacation homefront. I can pack my bags on a moments notice.

So stay tuned and come back to visit the blog and the vlog often as I have big plans for the future (I always think that anyway). New travels, refreshed perspectives, and new insights. After all, that's what this journey is all about.
