Manila, Philippines – The Manila Police arrested ten foreign nationals last Wednesday/Thursday night who were allegedly working as Guest Relations Officers (GRO’s) at a bar in Malate without proper permits.
One report claimed that nine female Russian nationals and one Kazakhstan national were taken into custody after members of the Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) descended upon the Sha-Sha Club located at the corner of San Andres and Adriatico Streets at around 9:40 p.m. Another source says that some of the the foreign nationals that were detained included Pakistanis.
MPD chief Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr. said they apprehended the foreigners after they were found to be working as “entertainers” at the bar without working visa.
Danao said the arrested individuals will be facing charges for violation of Article H, Section 98 (Professional Occupation Tax) and Article E, Section 138 (Health Certificate) in connection with Section 199 in the 2013 Omnibus Revenue Code of the City of Manila.
The nightclub establishment will also be penalized for failing to comply with the necessary permits as provided for under the 2013 Omnibus Revenue Code of the City of Manila.
According to sources, the foreign nationals were taken to the MPD SMaRT office for proper disposition. I’m not quite sure what that means, but I would love to be a fly on the wall at that jailhouse!
Just last year(Jan 2018), a group of Russian women who were arrested while working as bar girls in Angelese City were being readied for deportation. According to the Philippine News Agency, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detained the 19 GRO’s at Club Angel in Clark Field.
Jobs in Russia must becoming harder to come by these days… apparently. My question is why would anyone want to travel to this part of the world to chase expensive white women?

But be prepared… expect to spend P10,000 and up for a bottle of Champagne and P1,300+ for ladies drinks. I guess somebody really loves their white meat!
